Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
