Cyclone Melissa is projected to strengthen into a infrequent Category 5 storm as it turns in the direction of the Caribbean island, delivering deadly sudden floods and mudslides.

This weather system, which registered winds of up to 195 km/h as of 06:00 GMT, is currently turning northwest in the Caribbean region and is anticipated to reach land by midweek, as reported by weather experts.

Inhabitants are being advised to secure their homes with protective bags and timber panels, and to accumulate essentials.
