Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
